The Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors have set up a facility in Andhra Pradesh and is all set to roll out cars from middle of 2019. One among the 5 suspected automobiles to be released in the 18 months gap by the Kia Motors is the Grand Carnival MPV. The would-be-called Trazor was one of them. The Grand Carnival had made a brief appearance at the Auto Expo 2018.
The Grand Carnival MPV draws power from a 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine or a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel one. An automatic six speed gearbox comes along with both the engine options. The petrol engine produces a power of 270 PS and a torque of 318 Nm. The diesel one on the other hand makes a power output of 200 PS and 441 Nm torque. The MPV comes in a 7 seater, 8 seater and 11 seater formats. The company claims to provide a legroom of 685 mm , a headroom of 902 mm and a hiproom of 1266 mm even for the fourth row passengers. This arrangement can serve well for a tourist vehicle, the segment currently ruled by the Innova Crysta. The Grand Carnival MPV is 5115 mm long, 1985 mm wide and 1755 mm high, which is 380 mm longer, 155 mm wider, but 40 mm shorter than the Innova Crysta. The wheelbase of the MPV is 3060 mm, which is quite long. The wheels are alloy ones and the buyer gets to choose from the 19 inches, 18 inches and 17 inches options. The vehicle also comes with auto sliding rear doors which is one of a kind. The front and rear wheel tread are 1740 mm and 1747 mm respectively. The front and rear overhangs are 955 mm and 1110 mm respectively.
The manufacturers have considered the safety of its passengers and installed features like front and curtain airbags, rear cross-traffic alert, a blind-spot detection system, hill-start assist and electric stability control. The Toyota Innova Crysta is the only rival for the soon to be released Carnival MPV. The price of the vehicle is expected to be a great deal over the price of the diesel variants of the Innova Crysta ,which is Rs. 21.04 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi) for the highest trim.
