Kawasaki has updated its top of the line Versys 1000 with BS6 compliant engine. There has no other feature update or any new colour option offered. The specs and feature list remain the same. Although it is Rs 10,000 costlier than before.
In the looks department, the Kawasaki Versys 1000 looks aggressive, especially in Candy Lime green colour. The front gets a twin LED headlamps, both the headlamps unit has separate high and low beams along with position lamp. You have to climb a bit high as the seat height is at 840mm but the view from the riding position is commanding.
It gets an analogue-digital instrument cluster, the tachometer is analogue while the speedometer and other information are shown on the negative LCD display. The front windscreen is adjustable and you also get a DC socket in the cockpit capable of putting out 40 W of power, previously it was available as an accessory which has now been made standard.
Powering the behemoth is a Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke In-Line Four 1,043cc engine which makes 120ps at 9,000 rpm and 102Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. Suspension duties are carried by 43 mm inverted fork with rebound and preload adjustability at the front. The rear gets a horizontally placed mono-shock with rebound and preload adjustability. Braking is taken care by dual 310m disc at the front, with a 4-piston calliper and a single 250mm at the disc.
It also comes with a host of safety features such as ABS, KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control), KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function) and cruise control. At a price of Rs 10.99 Lakh (ex-showroom) it competes with Triumph Tiger 800.
