2019 Jeep Wrangler was recently spied testing on the road of Pune, India. The spied version is the new-gen JL Sahara variant. FCA India Automobiles is currently working on the 2-door version of the upcoming model as well. The JK is available in only the 4-door ‘Unlimited’ variant, hence the company will introduce something new this time. The new variant is placed below the Rubicon in the Wrangler range.
The spied Jeep Wrangler is a 4×4 version which has been spotted for the first time in the country. The off-road focused car is sold in four variants in the global market: Sport, Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon. The fourth-gen Wrangler Sahara looks modern with a classic statement. It is outfitted with round headlamps, company’s popular seven-slot grille, door hinges and foldable windscreen. It will be introduced with a limited-slip differential. The ground clearance of the new variant is 277mm which improves the off-road driving experience.
The new-gen model remains on the same ladder frame. It is longer and bigger compared to the previous version. It is integrated with the new LED DRL’s located on the front fenders. The international model of Wrangler Sahara is sold with many roofs on offer. Although, while on the test, the car is noticed with a hard top and sits on larger 5-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels highlighting striking wheel arches. The company has enhanced the departure angles, electric front- and rear-axle locks, and approx. 30 inches of water fording capacity.
Moving inside the cabin, the car gets many new features that makes it classy. The features include a new 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new steering wheel, and a 7-inch TFT LED driver information display. It is also integrated with 12-volt accessory sockets, 230-volt AC plug, dual front airbags, engine start-stop button and adjustable seat bolster with lumbar. It is available in four engine options in the global market. The variants are as follows:
* 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol: 270 BHP/400 Nm
* 3.6-litre, V6 petrol: 285 BHP/353 Nm
* 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel: 197 BHP/450 Nm
* 3.0-litre, V6 diesel: 240 BHP/570 Nm of torque
The powertrains are combined with a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic transmissions option. The model features all-wheel drive and a 2-speed transfer case as standard. The company can introduce the Eclipse Cross in the year 2020, after introducing Sahara. Although, the official launch of the boxy vehicle has not been confirmed by the company till now. After launch, it can lock horns against Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, MG Hector and Tata Harrier.
