It has been recently confirmed by FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), that the Jeep India has plans to bring a sub 4m SUV and also three mid size SUVs, which will be unveiled in CY 2020. This announcement was made by Group CEO, Sergio Marchionne, FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), on its Capital Markets Day, scheduling FCA’s (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) plans till 2022. The Jeep Trailhawk is all set to launch very soon. The Fiat Panda and 500 based model will just be placed below the Jeep Renegade.
Strict emission norms will be effective very soon. The sub 4 metre SUV is the most popular segment in the Indian automobile market, and hence its very natural that Jeep India, will come out with its own car to match the segment. Their Product Compass has already gained a momentum for the company, and paved its way to the hearts of automobile lovers. The production capacity of the plant has increased 1.5 times since the end of the previous year. Earlier the number of units manufactured was 160000, which is now 240000. There is a plant in Ranjangaon, in the outskirts of Pune, which is a joint venture between FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and Tata Motors. 31000 units of Compass has been sold in the last ten months, since its launch, among which 23000 are in India, and the rest 8000 were exported to RHD market. The Jeep automobile is manufactured around the world, in countries like, Brazil, China and Mexico. The details of the SUV has not yet been disclosed by the American Manufacturer.
Once launched the sub 4 metre SUV is going to give a head on competition to Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V and Tata Nexon. Mike Manley, the CEO of Jeep had spoken of his plans to reveal the sub compact SUV at the Geneva Motor Show, when it was in the rumours back in 2016.
