American automotive maker, Jeep is working hard on the off-roader version of the famous Compass. The new version is termed as Trailhawk which will be the most rugged off-roader of Jeep. It will be equipped with some high-grade underpinnings which will enhance the performance of the SUV. The vehicle is expected to be launched later this year.
Compass Trailhawk has been spotted many times while on the test. The SUV was scheduled to introduce in the Indian market earlier in 2019, although it was postponed later. The reason for the delay was Bharat Stage VI emission norms which will come into force in 2020. However, it seems that the company is finally ready to debut its bigger SUV in India.
In the recent test mule, the upcoming trail-rated version of Compass was spotted semi-covered. The front section of the SUV was somewhat covered in black including the bonnet. Although, the vehicle can be fully recognised as Trailhawk which is outfitted with bigger dual-tone alloy wheels that look completely distinct from the wheels on the existing standard model. Additionally, it also gets black bonnet decal, skid plate, red recovery hooks, and Trail Hawk badging.
The all-new Compass Trailhawk will be sold as a top-spec variant of the Jeep Compass which is already rocking the Jeep range in India. The company has developed a new version with some special off-roading capabilities. With the release of the new model, the company aims at increasing the sales of the range and attract more customers. It will come with a four-wheel-drive setup and a distinct Rock mode which is provided for the Selec-drive terrain response service.
The Trailhawk will come with boosted ride height and increased ground clearance which will enhance the driving experience in off-road. The all-new SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre multijet diesel powertrain which is capable of generating 171bhp of peak power at 3,750rpm and 350Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm. The powertrain is now combined with an all-new and powerful 9-speed automatic gearbox which makes it different from the standard version mechanically.
In the new spy shots, the instrument console of the vehicle was observed with red detailing. It is also expected to feature panoramic sunroof and a massive 8.4-inch infotainment system which was also featured in the special Compass Limited Plus. The Compass Trailhawk can be announced with a price tag of Rs 2.5 lakh more than the Compass top-specs variant. The vehicle can be priced nearly Rs 25 lakhs in India. It will rival against Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour and the Isuzu MU-X, after the launch.
