Jeep Compass is ready to bring out the long-awaited Jeep Compass Trailhawk in India. Their official website features the SUV in their vehicle list. “The one you’ve been waiting for” as the website mentioned, after various spy shots we think the launch should be anywhere near the corner.
So what makes the Jeep Compass Trailhawk different than the normal Jeep Compass. Well, there are various changes that set the Trailhawk apart. For starters, it gets the Trail Rated 4*4 badge from the Jeep stable, that means the SUV is prepped up for some serious off-roading.
Coming to the exteriors first the car comes finished in a bright red color with black decals. The hood gets a black decal at the center, blacked out roof and the ORVMs. The area around the fog lamps also gets the black treatment. The front bumper also features a different design than the regular Jeep Compass. Jeep Compass Trailhawk also gets a Trail rated badge around the car, that means that the SUV can also go places where the road ends. It also gets a new 17 inch Dual Tone Alloy wheels.
The interior gets a bigger color unit for the mid which stand at 7 inches, while the main infotainment unit is an 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The color theme of the interior will be the same as the exterior, that means all black with red color highlights.
Talking about the engine and gearbox, there you have the main changes in the SUV. The engine should be the same 2.0-liter Multijet-II Diesel engine churning out 173PS at 3,750 rpm and a healthy torque of 350Nm between 1,750 and 2,000 rpm. The gearbox, however, will see a major change, it will come with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
While the Jeep Compass comes with AWD, The Trail rated badge on the Trailhawk means it has some extra bells and whistles to take the bad roads or no roads. It gets an Active drive low ratio 4×4 to get you out of sticky situations. It features an additional electrical and body sealing along with high air intake to help wade water crossings. The ground clearance is increased by 20mm. It features an extra Rock mode to the Selec-Terrain System. It may also get a rear locking differential. It comes with 30 degrees approach angle, 24.4 degrees break over angle, and 33.6 degrees departure angle
All these changes and improvement will come at a price, Jeep is expected to price the Jeep Compass Trailhawk around 27 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is being manufactured in the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) factory at Ranjangaon, Pune. With adequate off roader pedigree, Jeep Compass Trailhawk would surely appeal to enthusiasts.
