Jeep has added a new variant to the Compass lineup called the Sport Plus. The Jeep Compass Sport Plus is offered in both the powertrains. The petrol powered variant is priced at Rs 15.99 lakhs while the diesel powered trim is priced at Rs 16.99 lakhs. The Sport Plus trim is positioned above the base variant in the company’s line up. The additional features in the Sport Plus variant makes the car a little expensive than the Sport base variant. The additional features include 16 inch alloy wheels, dual zone climate control, rear parking sensors and black roof rails.
On the exterior, the Jeep Compass Sport Plus variant comes with a Sport Plus logo on the tail gate, daytime running lights [non-LED], black roof rails, a rear windshield and black cladding on the top of the door. The Sport Plus Variant sits on 16 inch alloy wheels replacing the 16 inch steel wheels on the Sport base variant. Together with it, the rear parking sensors which was missing on the base variant are offered as standard on the Sport Plus trims. On the interior, the Sport Plus variant gets a all black fabric upholstery, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors and a Uconnect 5.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system.
In terms of safety features, the all new Sport Plus trim is offered with dual frontal airbags, anti-lock brake system [ABS] with electronic brake distribution [EBD], panic brake assist, electric brake parking, four disc brakes, adaptive brake lights and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Besides that, the car also comes equipped with hill start assist, electronic stability control [ESC], traction control system [TCS], electronic roll mitigation and Dynamic Steering Torque.
The new Compass Sport Plus variant borrows its mechanics from the Jeep Compass Sport base variant. Powering the Sport Plus variant is a 1.4 litre turbo petrol motor, which churns out a power of 163 bhp. On the other hand the Sport Plus diesel variant gets a 2.0 litre motor. The 2.0 litre diesel unit is tuned to deliver a power of 173 bhp. Both the engines come mated to a six speed manual transmission as standard. In terms of pricing, the Sport Plus variant is likely to compete on the likes of the higher trims of Tata Harrier, which is priced at Rs 16.25 lakhs [ex showroom – Delhi].
