Since last few months, Jeep Compass has not seen a remarkable sales growth. However, the American automotive manufacturer has not given up hopes. The company introduced a Limited Plus variant at the end of 2018 and now they have added another fascinating Longitude (O) variant in its line-up. The all-new Longitude (O) is available as a petrol-automatic version of Compass which has received a price-tag of Rs 18.9 lakh (ex-showroom). Although, it is a bit pricey compared to Limited variant.
If you are considering to buy a pocket-friendly SUV, then this could be one, but only if you can compromise features like LED tail-lamps, leather seating and leather steering wheel and twin-shaded outer finish which were exclusively available in the Limited version. The all-new Compas variant gets Front Cornering Fog Lamps and Rear Fog Lamps. It sits on 43.18 cm (R17) Alloy Wheels and highlights roof rails. It is outfitted with Bi-Function Projector Halogen Headlamps.
The new Longitude (O) has received all the standard safety features of Compas which includes 6 Air Bags, four-channel Anti-lock Brakes, full-function Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Panic Brake Assist, Hydraulic Boost Failure Compensation, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Passive Entry/ Keyless Go, Reverse parking camera, and many more. It is features power folding and adjustable ORVM’s.
The all-new Jeep Compass variant is equipped with some remarkable features in the cabin such as six speakers and 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the dash that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with automatic climate control system. Although, the engine-specs remains unchanged. It runs on a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine which generates 163hp peak power and 250Nm of torque combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (depends on different variants).
Compass is also available in a 2.0-litre diesel engine which produces 173hp of power and combined with a 6-speed manual. The diesel variant comes in 10 additional variants with other equipment. The petrol variant claims a top speed of 100kmph in just 9.99 seconds. Compass has great off-roading capabilities.
If you want more robust model of Jeep, then here is good news for you. This year, the company will soon launch the all-new Trailhawk in India which is expected to be priced nearly Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). Trailhawk, the off-roader is expected to be introduced as a diesel-automatic version in the country. Petrol-Automatic Longitude (O) rival against Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Tucson, and Hyundai Creta.
