Many of us had a small memory of late 80’s when our dad use to ride those heavy machines like Rajdoot, Bullet, Yezdi/Jawa. And most of their teenage stories were not compelete without those bikes. The Royal Enfiled bullet survived in its journey till date while the Rajdoot and Jawa lost its existence somewhere. Only Jawa’s can been seen with few enthusiastics and off course the Bollywood movies too from late 70-80’s. One such movie i remember is Parvarish (1977) in which Amitabh Bachchan can be seen Riding a Jawa along with the Late Actor Vinod Khana.
Well, why am I explaining all this because the Brand Jawa is all set to roll in Indian Market after Mahindra subsidiary Classic Legends Private Limited (CLPL), signed a licensing deal in 2016 to launch motorcycles under the JAWA brand name in India and other East Asian countries. Mahindra has been teasing the upcoming new Jawa motorcyles from sometime now and was spied testing by lot of enthusiastic.
After all these things now the Company has released a 14 second video of the bike running through, around the bushes giving very minimalist design cues. Although, the bike has been spied completely undisguised. The influential element to notice in this video was the exhaust note. Surprisingly, if you ever heard a Jawa roaring you would notice the exhaust note in the video is pretty constant and similar to the previous 2 stroke engine.
Well, folks this is a great job done by the team as the sound engineering is crucial for a bike which has a long and deep rooten history. The powering details of the bike has also been disclosed by the company. The engine has been designed from the scratch considering the soon to regulate BS-VI emission norms in India. The engine is a 293 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC (Dual Over-Head Cam) generating 27bhp and 28Nm of torque, and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Undoubtedly, the company has tried every way possible to keep the bike retro as much possible with all the modern eminities with it like the oil cooling system, disc brakes and ABS. However, the spy images shows the design is very down to the retro design which may not appeal much. Although, its very early to comment on what and how does the bike would make its way in the Indian market, we leave it until the official launch and details of the motorcyle is completely out.
