The Hyundai Xcent was introduced in the month of April last year and now after a year Hyundai has upgraded the Xcent compact sedan with additional safety features on the base variants. Previously, it was offered only on the higher spec trims. Hyundai has taken this move as per the Central Govt. rule, which states that all cars sold after April 2019 must come fitted with ABS and EBD as standard across the range. Therefore all the Hyundai Xcent trims now are offered with ABS and EBD as standard. The dual front air bags were already offered on the Xcent compact sedan.

The Hyundai xcent is now available in four trims – E, S, SX, and the fully – kitted SX [O]. The Xcent E+ variant has been discontinued by Hyundai. When launched the Hyundai xcent facelift came modified with a host of exterior and interior changes. The exterior of the Hyundai Xcent facelift featured a new grille, LED, daytime running lights, new wraparound taillights and redesigned head lamps. The interior of the Xcent came upgraded with driver’s seat height, glovebox cooling and new fabric upholstery. Besides that the interior changes included 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual tone dashboard, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Hyundai Xcent facelift is powered by the new 1.2 litre diesel engine, which delivers a power of 74 bhp and produces a peak torque of 190Nm. The engine was matted to a five speed manual gearbox. On the other hand the 1.2 litre petrol engine continues to be on offer carried over the pre facelifted Xcent.

With the introduction of additional safety features viz ABS and EBD, Hyundai has more progressively placed the Xcent compared to its rivals in the compact sedan segment – the Volkswagen Ameo, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Tata Tigor and the Honda Amaze. Since, the Hyundai Xcent is the only model among the popular selling compact sedans to get equipped with EBS. The Xcent facelift is presently priced staring at Rs 5.50 lakh [for petrol powered base trim] and ranging up to Rs 8.61 lakh [for the top of the line diesel powered variant].
