India’s favorite family car has already started to beat its competitors. Launched previous month on 23rd October, Santro has managed pretty good sales numbers.
Prebooking started on 10th of October with a Token amount of Rs 11,100. With over 30,000 bookings in just 15 days. The first month sales of Santro stand around a staggering 8,535 units. Though these figures are calculated on the basis of units sent to dealers, not the cars sold to customers. But you still can get a pretty accurate idea about the sales figures.
With Santro contributing a fair share in Hyundai’s figures. Hyundai has managed to sell the most car it ever sold in the month of October. With this great start, Hyundai Santro has left behind Tata Tiago (7,549 units) and Renault Kwid (6.035 units). And has come close to Maruti WagonE and Maruti Celerio. Considering the pace Santro will most likely overtake Maruti’s duo.
Sales figures also reveal the trend of different variants among customers. Automated Manual Transmission(AMT) variant has grabber around 30% of the booking. People are slowly moving towards automatic for convenience & easy city driving. CNG variants are also doing well with 21% of sales.
The new Santro features a large cascading grille with chrome assent which gives it an amazing appearance. The stylish tallboy hatchback is comes with new fog lamps and noble sleek headlamps. At the rear, it gets a revised bumper with rear parking camera and parking sensors.
On the inside, it features a 7” touchscreen infotainment system and a rear AC went. ABS and EBD are standard along with driver side airbag. The top end variant gets dual airbags and impact sensing auto door unlock. The overall dimension of the hatchback is 3,610 mm x 1,645 mm x 1,560 mm (Lenght x Width x Height).
Hyundai Santro is offered with 2 engine options. The petrol variant comes with 1.1L, 4 cylinder engine churning out 69 PS at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of 10.4 kgm at 4,500 rpm. On CNG it offers 59 PS at 5,500 rpm and 8.6 kgm at 4,500 rpm.
