Hyundai has finally launched the all-new Hyundai Santro in the country. The new hatchback aims to attract young buyers in this festive season. The Korean automotive maker has made the vehicle wider with more interior space. On October 10, the company has already started accepting the bookings online at an amount of Rs 11,100. They have got more than 14000 units bookings in less than two weeks which indicates the popularity of the passenger hatchback in India.
The all-new Hyundai Santro is offered in five variants: Dlite, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. The standard variants Dlite and Era will draw power from a petrol MT configuration whereas the Magna and Sportz will be available with both CNG MT and Petrol AMT powertrain options.
The all-new Santro has got the traditional tall boy design with more stylish and attractive chassis. From the front fascia, the car looks more appealing with the bold bumper, large cascading grille with chrome accents and notable fog lamps. The overall length of the car is 3610mm, width is 1645mm, and height is 1560mm along with a wheelbase of 2400mm.
The grille is equipped with two big fog-lamps which give it a striking appearance. The top-spec variant is integrated with a special wing mirror mounted blinkers. At the rear, the vehicle is revised with boxy taillights, large tailgate and windshield. The rear is detailed with reflective bands and a twin-shade theme. It is outfitted with 14-inch wheels with covers.
The Hyundai Santro is powered by a 1086cc, 4 cylinders, 12 valves, 1.1L petrol engine which generates 69PS max power @ 5,500 RPM and 99Nm of torque @ 4,500 RPM. The CNG unit is also available which will generate 59PS power @ 5,500 RPM and 99Nm of torque @ 4,500 RPM. Both the units are combined with a 5-Speed Manual transmission. An automated manual transmission is also offered with 1.1L Magna and Sportz variants.
The suspension duties are handled by front McPherson strut and rear Coupled Torsion beam axle. In terms of braking, it comes with front disc and rear drum. The company claims a top speed of 150kmph and a fuel economy of 20.3kmpl for the powerful motor.
Interior & Safety
The cabin is spacious with more legroom and headroom. It is integrated with comfortable and wider passenger seat. It has got the same black and beige treatment and is integrated with rear A/C vents as well. The dash features a 6.94-inch touchscreen infotainment with sat-nav and supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirrorlink. It also features voice recognition, rear AC vents, parking camera and further.
The stylish Hyundai Santro is developed with high-level safety features including ABS with EBD, driver side airbag, and front passenger airbag as a standard. It comes with 63% Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), High Strength Steel (HSS) that assist to produce leading Static & Dynamic Airbag presents high-grade safety.
Price & Rivals
The new vehicle will be available in many shades like Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Stardust (dark grey), Imperial Beige, Marina Blue, Fiery Red, and that Diana Green. It will rival against Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, and upcoming Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
