Hyundai today launched the 3rd generation of the popular Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS. The term NIOS means ‘more’ according to the company – offering more value for money car. However, Hyundai will continue selling the regular Grand i10 alongside the NIOS. The new hatchback will sell in a price range of Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 7.99 lakh.
The new Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS gets both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol unit is a BS6 4-cylinder 1.2-liter motor while on the other hand, we get a BS4 3-cylinder 1.2-liter diesel mill. The petrol engine produces 83ps of power and 114Nm of torque while the diesel unit makes 75ps and 190Nm of torque. The power is transmitted either via a manual or an automatic transmission system.
The petrol engine gets an ARAI certified mileage figures of 20.7kmpl for MT and 20.5kmpl for AT. The diesel engine economy numbers are better at 26.2kmpl for both the MT and AT variants.
The Grand i10 NIOS gets a fresh look both on the outside and on the inside. It now features a cascading grille up front. The new design language brings a little sportiness to the design. This is evident with all the sharp angles present in the bumper. A more unique design approach with the new Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is integrating a pair of DRLs to the grilles.
The inside of the new hatchback also sees a complete overhaul from the previous version. The infotainment system appears to be a single unit with the main instrument cluster. We can also see the sporty touches on the interior too. The air con vents have a more angular shape. The steering wheel also includes a silver insert to add a little sporty look to it. It also gets a new instrument cluster layout.
