Hyundai Creta has proved to be a home run for the Korean manufacturer since its launch. But there’s always new competition coming in and Hyundai has to keep the Creta fresh and updated to retains the sales figures.

So Hyundai launched a new limited-edition model known as Hyundai Creta Sports Edition. As is it with all the manufacturers the Sports edition only gets few new feature and cosmetic changes. The engine remains the same. Though the Sports edition is only offered with the 1.6 Petrol and 1.6 Diesel.

The Sports Edition variant is based on the SX variant of the Creta with further upgrades. It comes in two colour options – Phantom Black and Polar White with Phantom Black. You can opt for the dua tone Polar White with a premium of Rs 11,000. The front of the car now gets a Dark Chrome front grille, Smoked headlamps and silver colour finished front skid plates. It also gets new silver colour finish roof rails, black colour finished ORVMs and the rear gets a spoiler along with faux dual exhaust tips finished in Chrome.

Coming to the interior you get black seat fabric with “Creta” embossed on them, electric sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel, silver accents for the front and rear AC vents. It also gets the feature list of SX variants such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, cruise control etc. It gets dual airbags and ABS as standard.

The engines are both 1.6 in petrol and diesel. The diesel being the more powerful making 126 bhp and 260 Nm while the petrol makes 121 bhp and 151 Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

So how much premium for all these upgrades? If you compare it to the regular SX variant the Sports Edition will cost you around Rs 60,000 more. Hyundai Creta competes with MG Hector, XUV 500, Kia Seltos and the Tata Harrier.
