Hyundai Motors India has been testing the all-new Carlino sub 4 meter SUV since last year. The company is keen to release its own SUV which will give a tough competition to the rivals in the same segment like Mahindra. The vehicle was referred as QXi, which was debuted at the 2016 Auto Expo. The 4 meter SUV will be positioned below the Hyundai Creta range.
Carlino is one of the most awaited concepts to be released in the domestic as well as international market. Before the India launch in Many 2019, it is scheduled to be showcased at the upcoming New York Auto Show which will be held from April 19- 29. The production version of the Hyundai’s SUV is named ‘Styx’. The new spy shots of the Carlino concept has been surfaced online in which the car is semi-covered. However, most of the features are clearly visible.
Starting from the front, we can notice a bold bumper and a signature Cascading grille which highlights distinctive ends. It is equipped with all-new LED Daytime Running Lights and projector headlamps. It will be available in dual tone coating and new aluminium roof rails. The spy shot reveals white and black exterior along with dual-tone 16 or 17-inch alloy wheels. It is also integrated with turn signals on the wing mirrors. Some other features include all-black roof, shark fin antenna, and LED tail lamp.
The cabin of the all-new Carlino was earlier spied with a dual-tone theme similar to the Hyundai i20 and Creta. It can be integrated with 8.0-inches touchscreen infotainment system with the connectivity benefits. It can get ventilated seats, disc brakes, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX, high-speed warning, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, side airbags, and reverse parking camera as standard.
The Carlino Styx or QXi is expected to come in three powertrain options: 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol, 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol, and a 1.4-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The engine can be combined with five or six-speed manual and an also AMT gearbox. Some reports also claim that it will also get a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol option which will be combined with a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
However, the mechanical details and price are not confirmed officially. It will rival against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the all-new Mahindra XUV300. The vehicle can be introduced at a price between Rs 8-12 lakh.
