However, on 4th October, 2018 the Hyundai AH2 hatchback will be revealed to the media. The upcoming Hyundai compact hatchback has been spotted a number of times during testing.
The Hyundai AH2 hatchback will revive the name Santro in form of a suffix. The upcoming AH2 hatchback will feature full face grille, LED daytime running lights and large tail lamps on the exterior. The car will get black inserts in the bumpers similar to the facelifted Grand i10. On the interiors, the Hyundai AH2 hatchback will feature a three spoke steering wheel with audio mounted controls and a touchscreen system operated through steering mounted control. However, the cabin trim design, the dash mounted gear lever and other bits on the compact hatchback will take after that on the Grand i10.
The Hyundai AH2 hatchback is expected to get powered by an updated version of Santro Xing’s 1.1 litre petrol engine, which produces a power of 65 hp. A five speed manual gearbox will come coupled to it. Most importantly the AH2 compact hatchback will be the first car of the South Korean Automaker to come with AMT, automated manual transmission.
The Hyundai AH2 hatchback will be a replacement to the Eon hatchback and when launched will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Tata Tiago. The Hyundai AH2 hatchback is developed based on the previous i10’s robust HA platform and the small family car advanced over its competitors in terms of safety features. The safety features to be offered on the compact hatchback include dual front air bags, rear parking sensors and ABS, anti-braking system as standard. Therefore making the AH2 superior to its competitor Maruti Celerio, which gets single air bag as standard while the additional air bags and ABS are provided as optional extras.
