Hyundai India has almost all the segments covered in India under 20 Lacs. They have cars in every segment to compete with Maruti Suzuki except the MPV segment. While Maruti has been dominating the MPV segment from as long as 2012, Hyundai never came with a product to rival it. But now it seems like the time has come.
Hyundai is working on their MPV from a while, and now we have some spy images which reveal the exterior of the car. Although the pictures are heavily camouflaged we can still figure out the silhouette. The MPV has been spotted testing in South Korea and is most likely to come by next year to India.
The front looks like a typical MPV, you can see that it has LED DRLs, and the headlamps unit is placed below it, something like in the Hyundai Venue. ORVMs feature integrated turn signals in them, and we can also spot the black roof rails on the MPV. At the rear we can see the sloping roofline with large glass at the back, Vertical LED tail lamps and four parking sensors. There is also the shark fin antenna at the top.
There were no images of the interiors of the car, but we can hope Hyundai to provide much premium finish than the Ertiga with better materials. It will also come feature-loaded and some features from the bigger Creta should also come to the MPV. Engine options should be carried from the Creta too, the 1.5L petrol and 1.5L diesel engine with a 6-speed manual and automatic option.
Hyundai will price the MPV aggressively to take on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga as well as the XL6, it will also compete with Mahindra Marazzo. If priced right, Hyundai can have a competitive product in their hand and can steal the monopoly Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been enjoying from years.
