Complying to the new safety standard made by Indian government all the manufacturers are slowly offering ABS in their bikes. Honda has also jumped in by offering ABS in their 160cc offering the Honda X-Blade.
The bike is priced at Rs 87,776 ex-showroom (Delhi). The new X-Blade ABS is Rs 8,000 more than the standard Non-ABS variant. The Honda X-Blade gets striking LED position headlamps which resemble a robot like a face, and the rear also gets LED taillights. A fully digital instrument cluster offering a gear position indicator, service due indicator, a digital clock except for the normal speedometer and tachometer.
Speaking on the launch of X-Blade with ABS, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., said, “The X-Blade has been exclusively designed for the young motorcycle enthusiast looking for style and performance in their daily commuting. The X-Blade now comes equipped with ABS which will enhance rider’s confidence. Sporty style is at the core of new X-Blade and appreciating the ethos of sports, Honda is also presenting the X-Blade to the most stylish player in each city leg of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi league 2018.”
Powering the X-Blade is a 162.7 cc HET single cylinder, 4-stroke Air-cooled engine churning out 13.93bhp at 8,500 rpm and 13.9 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The ABS variant weighs 2kg more than the standard variant at 142kg. The front gets 17-inch Alloy with 80/100 section tyre and 130/70 section tyre at the rear. The ABS is a single channel unit combined with a front disc of 276mm and a 130mm drum at the rear.
X-Blade comes in five different color options – Pearl spartan red, Matte frozen silver, Pearl Igneous Black, Matte marshal green and Matte marvel blue. Honda X-Blade competes with Suzuki Gixxer and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160.
