The wait is finally over as Honda is ready to launch the all-new Honda CRV Diesel in India. The stunning CR-V SUV was debuted at the Auto Expo 2018 where the company announced the India launch of the new variant, but now the news is confirmed. The CR-V is already an iconic model of Honda and is a successful model in the country. However, after observing the increasing fan following of this model the company is keen to hit the 5th Gen SUV that is expected to come next month (expected date October 9).
What’s New In the Upcoming CR-V?
As we all know, Honda CRV is on the ongoing model of the company, so the new variant will definitely come with some even more impressive features. The upcoming car will be launched in a diesel engine variant which is new for Indian customers. Honda Cars India foresees the brand-new CRV to be established in the 7 seater SUV lineup. The 7 seaters SUV’s have a huge demand in the Indian market. At present, Toyota Fortuner and Volkswagen Tiguan are ruling the SUV segment.
Is the New Engine Worth it?
The diesel engine is expected to be introduced as a 1.6-litre unit from the company’s Earth Dreams powertrain lineup. The engine of the Indian variant has been limited to single-turbo instead of a twin-turbo variant, just to keep the price at a suitable range. Nevertheless, the 1.6-litre diesel single-turbo assembly will be capable of generating 120hp of maximum power and 300Nm of peak torque. Although, this could be a downside as the expectations are always high when it comes to the latest SUV version. The engine is combined to a 9-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters and all-wheel drive on offer.
The latest model will be available in diesel as well as petrol variant. The petrol variant will be introduced as a 2-liter unit which will deliver 154 bhp of peak power and 192 Nm of peak torque. Don’t expect the petrol variant to feature paddle shifters and all-wheel drive, as it will be presented only with a front wheel drive version.
The new CRV will also get some remarkable changes in the cabin such as dual-zone climate and cruise control, 8-way adjustable driver’s seat and a 7.0-inch touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It gets leather upholstery, wider driver and passenger seats, more legroom, and an updated dash.
Price And Competitors
The all-new Honda SUV will lock horns against the upcoming Mahindra XUV700 and Tata H7X. It will be exciting to see whether the new SUV will succeed in maintaining the popularity of the ongoing variant. The 7-seater SUV could come with a price tag of around Rs 28 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom) in India.
