Honda Civic Diesel Sedan has been introduced with nine speed automatic transmission. This is for the first time Honda is offering diesel engine matted with automatic gearbox. The current generation Honda Civic to be launched in India gets a 1.5 litre diesel engine. The engine delivers a maximum power of 120 hp and produces a peak torque of 300 Nm.
Honda has reported, “the Civic 1.6 diesel auto does a 0 kmpl – 100 kmpl dash in 11 sec, with a top speed of 200 km/h. Additionally the nine speed gearbox can skip through gears to facilitate better fuel economy and faster shifts; this means the transmission can shift directly from ninth to fifth, or say seventh to forth in full automatic mode.” The launch of Civil Sedan in India in 2019 was confirmed by Honda earlier, in this year itself. This refreshed version of 2019 Honda Civic is not yet showcased globally.
The Honda Civic Sedan to be launched in our country comes with a 1.8 litre petrol motor option along with the 1.5 litre diesel engine option. The 1.8 litre petrol engine delivers a power of 140 hp. Once launched in India, the Honda Civic Sedan will rival with the Skoda Octavia, the Hyundai Elantra facelift and the Toyota Corolla.
The upcoming next generation CR – V SUV, which is going to be launched soon will come powered to the same engine as the India oriented Civic. The next generation CR – V SUV coming with a diesel engine option is indicating the strong possibility of the Civic model to launched in India, coming with the same engine option . It is expected to be priced above Rs 15 lakhs. In 2015, Honda had launched the Civic globally in the market of USA. Later, gradually from the beginning of 2016 Honda launched this model in various international markets. Now Honda has launched this four wheeler in UK with nine speed automatic gearbox box. UK is the first country to get this four wheeler launched with nine speed transmission. It is expected that the Civic sedan to be launched in India adopts similarities from the UK model.
