Honda City has been updated with some latest safety features. Each variant has received the new features as standard. Although, the good news is that it has not affected the prices of the sedan. Honda cars have recently launched an updated version of City on May 28 this year and now those variants will be offered with high-level safety features including a speed alarm system that will alert the driver at speeds of 80 kph.
The alarm will ring continuously when the car reaches more than 120 kph. The modified Honda City is now available with front passenger seat belt reminder. It has received all the features which are essential to satisfy the latest safety norms which will come into impact by July 1, 2019. These features include front driver airbag, ABS with EBD, dual airbags as standard. Although, all variants of the City is already sold with dual airbags and ABS as standard.
Honda city update is just a beginning as there will be more models which will be updated before July to comply with the norm. It will be great to see which models get updated and whether it will affect the price or not. Some of the car models like Mahindra Thar DI variant was recently halted as it didn’t come with those essential safety features. There are many popular automotive makers who aim at safety first and keen update their popular models.
The new feature of the City, the speed warning system is good, but the driver might get annoyed when the alarm will ring continuously when the speed reached 120 kph. Driving at this speed is common in Indian highways so, it might not be preferable for most of the customers. Honda is also developing the next generation City which will be more feature packed and stylish. It will come with a spacious cabin and new exterior design. It is expected to be launched by 2020.
At present Honda City is available in five attractive shades: Radiant Red Metallic, White Orchid Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, and Lunar Silver Metallic. The City is powered by a 1.5L, four-cylinder, petrol motor which makes 119hp of power and 145 of peak torque. It comes with two transmission options: manual and CVT gearboxes. It rival against Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and the Toyota Yaris. The prices start from Rs 9.72 lakh and go high till 14.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
