Honda announced that they are recalling 3,669 units of Honda Accord manufactured between 2003-2006. This is a part of Honda’s precautionary global recall campaign concerning Takata front airbag inflators. An airbag is one of the major safety equipment in a vehicle. It is vital to ensure that it works correctly.
Honda Cars India will voluntarily replace the faulty front airbag module at no extra cost. Honda will get in touch with the respective owners directly. Replacements will take place from April 18. Customers can also check if their car is affected by entering the 17 digit VIN code on their website. Alternatively, owners can also contact the nearest dealership for more information.
This is also the second recall related to Takata airbag. The previous recall was in January 2018 and affected thousands of Honda Accord, City and also Jazz. This recall is valid for the previous eight gen Accord and not the ninth gen on sale in India now.
As part of the Takata airbag inflator recalls which have impacted several car makers globally, Honda Cars India continues to urge owners of Honda vehicles affected by the recall to get their vehicles repaired at authorized dealers as soon as possible. Vehicle owners can check their vehicles’ recall status at www.hondacarindia.com or by calling their authorized dealer. HCIL reiterates the importance of replacing the affected Takata front airbag inflators urgently as they may deploy with excessive internal pressure when activated. The airbag inflator casing might rupture which may result in injury or safety risk to the vehicle occupants.
