The Hero Karizma ZMR has never been a hit among the sales number but this was not an expected scene. The new model of the two wheeler was launched in May 2018 and is faring pretty low since then. It sold only 17 units in the inaugural month followed by a sale number of 12 in June and reached 10 and 11 by August and September respectively. Finally in October the automobile had zero sales. Its quite not very clear whether the motorcycle has been discontinued as the total sales throughout May to October is some 64.
The Karizma ZMR was relaunched this year followed by a grand unveiling at the Auto Expo 2018. It was kind of expected for it to get some positive attention whereas it has failed to even sell one unit of itself in the previous month. The 157 kgs bike was offered in in four colors – Blazing Red, Panther Black, Spotlight White and Vibrant Orange. The bike although was not still equipped with ABS, which will be mandatory after a few days. The disc brakes measured 276mm and 240mm at the front and rear.
A BS IV compliant 223cc, single cylinder, oil cooled, fuel injected engine is the power source of the Hero automobile capable of producing 20 bhp power at 8,000 rpm and 19.7 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 5 speed gearbox and reaches a top speed of 129 kmph. It has a bore * stroke of 65.5 mm * 66.2 mm. The compression ratio is 9.6:1.
The bike was priced at Rs. 108000 for the normal variant and Rs. 110500 for the dual tone one. It was too pricey for its features and there are similar bikes in the segment at a much cheap rate, like the the Bajaj Pulsar 220 and the Suzuki Gixxer SF. Maybe this was one of the drastic reasons behind its failing.
