Hennessey has revealed the engine specifications for its new hypercar- the Hennessey Venom F5. The new F5 will sport a gigantic 7.6-liter engine. Massive twin turbos work with this engine to produce power never seen before on any car. This ridiculously massive engine produces more than 1600hp. Yes, that is not a typo. This is more than 100 horses in excess of both the Bugatti Chiron(1479hp) and the Koenigsegg Regera (1500hp). In addition, the twin turbos add an extra 24psi boost. The torque is an astounding 1761Nm (at 4400rpm).
The quest to achieve a top speed in a car is never-ending. Hennessey set its first top speed record of 435kmph in its Venom GT back in 2014. Ever since then more and more companies are trying to win the top spot. Last year Koenigsegg broke the record achieving 443kmph in the Koenigsegg Regera. This time John Hennessey is feeling confident in their quest to set new records in 2019. He said that the main focus is on the race to 300mph (481kmph).
The new V8 motor in the Hennessey Venom F5 will get many new components. This includes aluminium machined engine block, steel cylinder sleeves, ball-bearing turbos with billet compressor wheels, stainless steel turbo headers and a dry-sump set-up.
This engine is in development state from the past five years. Hennessey has partnered with Shell and Pennzoil to develop this state of the art engineering marvel. The F5 will run Pennzoil Platinum 10W-60 synthetic motor oil and Shell V-Power Nitro+ premium gas.
“Our relationship with John and the Hennessey Special Vehicles team is mutually rewarding,” said Carlos Maurer, president of Shell Lubricants Americas, in a release. “Our products are tested to their performance limits in the new engine designed especially for Venom F5 and will help the Hennessey team to break more records. This extreme performance testbed allows Shell to progress our own innovations as we support this hypercar in its move to next level status.’’
Hennessey plans to build just 24 of this top speed monster. 15 of them have already found their owners. Each car is expected to be priced at about $1.6 million (INR 11.15 crore).
