Harley Davidson, the American motorcycle manufacturer has revealed the details of its 338 cc motorcycle. This motorcycle will be the smallest capacity bike offering from the American bike maker. Most importantly, the 338 cc motorcycle will be the most affordable bike from the manufacturer. The Harley Davidson 338 cc bike will be priced at Rs 3.5 lakhs. The motorcycle will be manufactured in China and will be exported to other Asian countries, including India. The small displacement bike is likely to be launched in the end of 2020 in the auto markets of China and we can expect it to hit the Indian roads by 2021.
Speaking about what will be most affordable offering from the company, Matt Levatich, President and CEO, Harley-Davidson said, “Harley-Davidson has always been about inspiring riders around the world. Our More Roads plan is all about bringing our brand of freedom to more people, in more places, in more ways. We’re excited about this opportunity to build more Harley riders in China, one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets, by creating new pathways to our brand.”
Harley Davidson is a renowned motorcycle manufacturer mainly working on heavy touring motorcycles. Now, the American bike maker is developing their smallest displacement bike in order to boost sales. The company has joined hands with Qianjiang for developing their 338 cc bike since Qianjiang has a lot of experience in developing premium small displacement motorcycles, supply base and the knowledge of emerging markets as well. The 338 cc motorcycle from Harley Davidson will lock horns with the Royal Enfield along with the upcoming bikes from Bajaj – Triumph Alliance in the 350 cc segment.
As seen from the image released from Harley Davidson, the 338 cc bike is not like the traditional cruise developed by the brand but is more like an aggressive naked street fighter. The design of the bike is a mix between a scrambler and a street fighter. The Harley Davidson 338 cc bike is likely to be offered with features like a Trellis frame, telescopic front forks, an analogue instrument console and a digital readout. As suggested by the name, the bike will be powered by a 338 cc liquid cooled parallel twin motor. The braking duties on the bike will be handled by dual disc brakes. The anti-lock braking system will be offered as standard.
