The Force Motors manufactured special utility vehicle Gurkha Xtreme will be launched in India pretty soon. The vehicle will be designed based on the Xplorer, but with three doors.
The four wheeler will be available in two variants, the hard top and the soft top. There is no such changes in the exterior of the car, but a handful of mechanical updates have made its way. A Mercedes-Benz OM611-derived 2.2-litre diesel engine powers the car and gives the power output of 138 Bhp and 321 Nm of peak torque. Earlier the car used to run on a 2.6 litre diesel engine but the power produced was relatively low, 84 Bhp and 230 Nm. The engine comes linked to a Mercedes-Benz G32 5-speed manual gearbox via dual mass flywheel.
A low-range transfer case, front and rear differential locks and an upgraded multilink arranged suspension system are some of the newest features on the car. The Xtreme will have improved approach, departure and ramp breakover angles at 44 degrees, 35 degrees and 29 degrees, respectively, which is far better than the currently running model. The ground clearance is reported to be 205 mm and the water wading depth is reported to be 550 mm.
The hardcore off-roader is expected to launch sometime in this month bearing the price tag of Rs. 14 lakhs, which is costlier than the Xplorer. Dealers have already started taking booking for the same. Mahindra Thar is its only competition in the Indian Automobile market. The car is available in 4 colour options namely, Superior white, Moondust Silver, Matt Black and Copper Red. The official announcement has not been done by the Force Motors yet. Earlier version of the Xtreme was not quite a competition for the Thar, but with such strong mechanical updates it is going to give the Mahindra Beauty a tough time.
