Electric Vehicles: The big automotive firms are trying their best to develop EV which is said to lessen pollution released by combustion engines. However, EVs are not widespread and the reason could be lack of charging points. Government administrators were recently provided with Mahindra eVerito and Tata Tigor EV by state-run Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) which they have declined to accept and the reason is really shocking. They have claimed that these electric vehicles offer an under-rated performance and efficiency.

The government was offered the Ev’s to encourage electric vehicles, but it seems that they are not ready to use it on the daily basis. The EV’s will be expanded by Energy Efficiency Service Ltd (EESL) that is an unrestricted block in Power ministry. The recent reports have claimed that the head administrators who got the vehicle declined to accept them since the models do not offer high-performance and power. As said earlier, the refused EVs were produced by big automotive companies and the model is Tata Tigor EV and Mahindra e-Verito.

According to reports, the senior administrator was concerned with generating guidance for EVs and electric mobility in India and they said that the Mahindra eVerito and the Tata Tigor EVs failed to produce even 80-82 km after a full charge just in the city range. As per the rules declared by the government officials the EESL tender, an individual EV unit must have high performance to accomplish higher than 130 km (without AC) as approved by the ARAI. The conditions also consisted that the vehicle should claim 0-60 km/hr of fewer than 13 seconds and a top speed of above 80 km/hr.

Now, Mahindra is said to be working on the manufacturing of a different EV which will offer improved performance and efficiency. The EESL contract also reads that Mahindra and Tata have to supply 150 and 350 units individually in the first stage of production and added 9500 units next year. EESL also claimed that the company has only supplied 150 till now and that too with low-performance. Both the EV models in employment comes with 17 kW battery, compared to the global model 27-35 kW.

A member from the firm stated that they will be producing 200-250 EVs in Delhi and Andhra Pradesh by July, this year. It is said that the second EV tender is in process of re-deciding. As a clarification of low performance and efficiency, they claimed that there are few charging stations at present hence this is the reason for the same. With the increasing fast charging points, it will become easier for the batteries to get completely charge. So, improper charging could be another reason which gives rise to the efficiency issue.
