The Auto Expo 2018 debutant tourer bike BMW G310 GS is going to be launched in India in July 2018. This bike is going to be manufactured at the TVS facility, locally. The F700GS and the R1200GS are the design inspirations behind the G310 GS. ‘Gelandestrass’ stands for GS , which is in the name of the BMW beauty, and which means, ‘ go anywhere road or mountain’.

The G310 GS runs on a 313 cc, single cylinder, 4 stroke, DOHC, 4 valves petrol engine, which produces a power of 34 Ps at 9500 rpm and 28 Nm torque at 7500 rpm. The engine is mated with a 6 speed manual gearbox. The bore of the bike is 80 mm and the stroke is 62.1 mm. The chassis of the bike is tubular steel frame with bolted rear frame. 41 mm upside down fork and Solid Die-Cast Aluminum Swingarm, Directly Hinged Monoshock handles the suspension duties in the front and rear respectively. There are 300 mm and 240 mm discs in the front and rear respectively, of the bike which looks after the braking system along with a dual channel BMW Motorrad ABS. 110/80-R19 and 150/70-R17 are the front and rear tubeless tyre specifications. The entire instrument cluster is digital.

The bike has an overall length of 2075 mm,width of 880 mm, and height of 1230 mm. The wheelbase is 1870 mm. The seat is 835 mm high. It gives a mileage of 35 kmpl and the top speed is 145 kmph. The bike accelarates from 0-100 kmph in less than 7 seconds. The kerb weight is 175.5 kgs with a fuel tank having a capacity of 11 liters. The available colours of the G310 GS will be pearl metallic white, racing red and cosmic black. The bike is expected to bear a price tag of Rs. 2.75 lakhs, ex showroom Delhi.

Though the G 310 GS won’t have any direct rival, except the Himalayan RE, which will be cheaper ofcourse, but in terms of price tag, it maight finad competition in Beneli TNT300, Kawasaki Z250, KTM Duke 390, Mahindra Mojo 300 and Bajaj Pulsar VS400.  Upcoming bikes like Kawasaki Versys X-300 and KTM 390 Adventure are somewhat expected to give the BMW adventure tourer G310 GS a tough time.
