When it comes to a sports car, there a lot of options available in the global market, as well in India. Still, the buyers seem to be inclined towards the Ford Mustang from years, that’s why Ford Mustang becomes the World Best Selling Sports Coupe. Mustang claims this title fourth time in the row.

So for 2018, Ford sold a total of 113,066 Mustangs in 146 different countries. Over a lakh of units, and this isn’t some regular car we are talking about, it’s a proper sports car and these are huge numbers in the sports car category. The Mustang Is a top seller in the United States, Europe, and even Australia. America in general love there big sporty Mustangs, 75,842 units alone were bought by the Americans. It’s the closest competitor is the Dodge Challenger is roughly 10,000 units behind.

Mustang has been around for 55 years. The latest 6th-gen Mustang has sold over 500,000 units globally. In 2018, Mustang captured 15.4 percent of the sports car segment.

Jim Farley, Ford president, global markets said: “We broke the mould when Ford launched the Mustang 55 years ago,”. He added “Nothing says freedom, the wind in your hair and the joy of driving like Mustang; it’s an icon. The roar of its V8 on a spring day, there’s nothing better. No wonder it’s the most popular sports coupe in the world.”

In India, Ford Mustang comes with a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine, which churns out a 396bhp of power at 6,500rpm and 515Nm of torque which comes at 4,250 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, it also gets paddle shifters for enhanced control. it gets many features such as Electronic Line-Lock, which keeps the front brakes locked while you accelerate to warm the rear tires for enhanced grip.

The LCD instrument cluster shows an accelerometer, acceleration timer and other performance related things along with the regular tachometer and speedometer. It also features Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) and different driving modes.

Ford Mustang comes at a price of Rs 74,62,0001 (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in six colours – Race Red, Absolute Black, Oxford White, Ingot Silver, Triple Yellow Tricoat, and Magnetic.
