Ford Freestyle Review
In the previous month, Ford Freestyle was seen testing in India. The news clearly confirmed the release of the latest Freestyle in the country. The Ford India is finally ready to release the Freestyle which is a hatchback-based crossover. The release can be held on 18th of April, this year, as said by the company. Before the release, the Ford merchants have begun the bookings for the latest new-gen Ford car. The Freestyle is inspired by the Figo’s KA concept. The upcoming car is a Figo’s butch variant which has received a husky design as well as greater ground clearance. So, let’s discuss the detailed Ford Freestyle Review.
Ford Freestyle has got some general transformation in the exterior design. You will found a modified front grille, bumpers, side skirts, fender extensions and stronger alloy wheels. The company has not attached its symbol in the car. It is now outfitted with the latest Freestyle emblem on the rear boot lid. The modified grille looks more advanced compared to the Figo. It is polished with a shiny black color along with an amazing chunky honeycomb layout. The bumper receives a plastic silver skid plate which is different from other models.
The latest variant has wheel arch side plastic claddings and 15-inch split side 4-spoke alloy wheels. The wheels are colored in dark grey which gives a great appearance to the car. It has got some tremendous cosmetics upgrades such as somewhat curved shaped or the four notch like form factors connecting the spokes. The company has also used racing stripe decal on the below segment of the doors and roof upper compartment which can hold approx. 50 kilos loads.
The rear and front bumper look similar in terms of design. Some main segments present the model sportier and husky look which are the silver shaded plastic skid plates, thickset plastic cladding, and the plastic faux vents. The bumper sections add a vivid look and the latest relatively puffed tail lights are innovatively designed. There are many hatchback-based crossovers which include more plastic segments in the entire model, but the Ford Freestyle is different as it comes with suspension parts. It offers 190 mm of ground clearance. It will be great fun to ride Freestyle in critical road conditions because of the amazing ground clearance.
In past, Figo was not popular in India as the cabin features were weak. However, the company has worked harder to modify the interior features in the latest model. So, the Freestyle comes with a lavishing cabin. The dashboard is blended with colors like a smooth vigorous reddish brown and shiny black lines. The latest Freestyle model is equipped with a 6.5 inches touchscreen along with the Sync 3 infotainment settings. The touchscreen infotainment system supports high definition quality which is worth 10-lakh vehicles in India. It also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Freestyle receives twin USB ports in the front, start-stop button, and automatic climate control.
Similar to the EcoSport, the Ford Freestyle comes with a decent instrument cluster shaded with silver strokes which blends in the dashboard. There are seven cup and bottle holders on the front passenger’s side and center console. The front also includes a soft-touch shelf in the lower of climate control and added squarish cubbyhole to put knick-knacks. The seat cover is modified and good fabric. The car doesn’t have floor carpets, although the company has given a modular rubber mat which is washable and easier to maintain. There is a little storage compartment in the dash and a digital compass on the touchscreen.
Upgraded Security Features
The company has also packed high-end security features in the latest model. You will get latest security updates in the Freestyle. Ford cars are always great in terms of security. It includes dual airbags, reverse parking sensors, and ABS as standard. The Titanium version of Freestyle is packed with more security updates like six airbags and many other safety specs. It features electronic stability control (ESC), active rollover protection (ARP) and for the latest traction control (TSC). As emergency set up, the Freestyle features Ford’s emergency assistance program which rapidly closes the pump and sends a GPS location.

The latest motor is naturally aspirated which offers great fuel efficiency at 19 kmpl as per the ARAI analysis. The performance of the engine is good enough. The petrol engine is combined with a modified and latest 5-speed manual gearbox transmission. The latest gearbox includes light clutch obtaining start-stop drives smoothly. However, it lacks an automatic alternative. The diesel variant of the Freestyle is powered by a 1.5-litre engine similar to the EcoSport. The diesel variant delivers 99 bhp of peak power, and peak torque of 215 Nm. It offers the highest speed at 24.4 kmpl. The suspension composition of the model is different from the standard hatchback concept.
