We previously informed you about the Force Gurkha Xtreme. Now it’s here. Force India has finally introduced the updated version of their off-road oriented SUV and it gets a host of new upgrades. The new Gurkha Xtreme with a price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) gets interesting mechanical updates.
Unlike other manufacturers. Rather than just giving it a visual and interior upgrade Force India has gone the other way. The main highlight of the Gurkha Xtreme is its engine.
Force Gurkha Xtreme gets its new engine from Mercedes-Benz OM611 family. Earlier used in the Force One SUV. The engine delivers a power output of 140hp and puts down a Torque of 321Nm. looks quite similar to the standard model but gets major mechanical changes. Also, the new Gearbox comes from Mercedes-Benz G32 and is a 5-speed unit.
The new engine is a great improvement over the previous 2.6-litre diesel engine, which used to only offer 85hp. The transmission connects the engine to a dual-mass flywheel. Although it does get some interior changes. An updated centre console, new gear lever and transfer case.
The suspension system is upgraded too, with the front row having a multi-link arrangement as well as the rear with 40 mm wider front track. It also gets locking differentials at the front and rear.
With the update in suspension has also had an effect on the approach angle which is 44-degrees, departure angle at 35 degrees and ramp breakover at 29 degrees. The ground clearance is 205 mm and it can wade through 550 mm of water.
It is Rs 2.5 lacs more than the regular Gurkha. Bookings for the Gurkha Xtreme are now open. And now it is much more capable to rival with Mahindra Thar.
