The Italian automotive manufacturer, Fiat has released the latest teaser of the Toro SUV concept. The new teaser gives a glimpse of the upcoming Toro which will debut at the Sao Paulo Motor Show, November. Regarding the all-new concept, Peter Fassbender, Design Head, FCA Latin America claims that the upcoming model “is unheard of and will be surprising.”
The video shows a sketch of the new SUV with compact rear extension and a stiffer raked roofline. The concept model could be a coupe-crossover, with a silhouette similar to that of the Renault Arkana. The designing of the all-new SUV concept will be inspired by the Toro pick-up. It will be outfitted with bold ridges, new dual-headlamp and larger DRL’s. WIth those impressive modifications, the vehicle can be the Toro facelift, expected to release by 2020.
Moving in the cabin, the upcoming vehicle can be integrated with a large 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will have smartphone connectivity support. In terms of mechanical specifications, the SUV can be powered by a 2.0-litre Tigershark Flex and 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel unit combined with a 6-speed torque converter for petrol and a 9-speed automatic transmission for a diesel engine. The standard variant will produce 135 hp / 182 Nm figures and the top-specs variants will deliver 164 hp / 201 Nm.
In future, the Toro SUV can be introduced in a five-seater arrangement which will draw power from a 1.8-litre E.torQ unit. Moreover, it will feature some high-level safety highlights like 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, hill descent control and pressure monitoring system. The Toro SUV will be released in the Brazilian market (expected launch in 2019) before reaching the international market. It is not clear whether the company will bring the new Toro in India. It will rival against some popular SUV including Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe.
