Normally when you say “Ferrari”, it almost completes the definition of a supercar. Loud and freaking fast, they are nothing short of a technological marvel. Every time when they roll out a new car, they out do themselves. Ferrari has done the same with The SF90 Stradale.
The SF90 Stradale is the most powerful road-legal prancing horse from the Italian stable. It also the first plug-in hybrid from Ferrari. The mad V8 engine delivers a staggering 770 hp and if that is not enough, the 3 electric motors contribute 216 hp, taking the total output to 986 hp. All those 986 horses propel the SF90 from standstill to 100 km/h in just about 2.5 seconds.
One of the three electric motors is located between the engine and the new 8 speed DCT, on the rear axle. The other two motors are located on the front axle. The car has a range of 25 Kms in the all electric e-Drive mode, using only the front axles for drive. The max speed is also restricted at 135 Km/h in the e-Drive mode. Another fact, reverse can only be used in the e-Drive mode.
The exterior is unlike any Ferrari ever produced. All the cuts on this car is aimed at keeping the complex machinery cool at all times. The active aerodynamic panels move around to reduce the drag on straights and increase downforce around a corner.
Slipping onto the interior…
The interior features a 16″ curved digital HD screen that provides all the information that the driver needs – A Ferrari first. No, there is no analogue bits here and the analogue rev counter is given a miss. The steering wheel now features “touch” controls. Almost all the controls on the steering wheel are touch interfaced, except for the traction control knob and the turn indicator. Even the Engine start/stop switch is a touch button. The SF90 will sit above the 812 superfast in Ferrari’s lineup.
