Well well well, it looks like Morris Garages is already locking horns with Hyundai. Not with the Hector though. MG has already announced that their second product will be an electric SUV – the electrified version of ZS compact SUV known as the eZS. So, why we’d say the Hyundai? For the unawares, Hyundai India will launch its first all electric SUV, the Kona on July 9th. It will directly rival MG’s eZS SUV due to be launched in December 2019.
Very well ahead of the launch, MG has rolled out the eZS SUV from its factory in Gujarat. This could very well be a pre-production model and is more likely to be used for testing purposes. The company has revealed the official making video of the SUV. Globally, the eZS SUV made its debut in the Guangzhou Auto Show last year. MG will also be launching the SUV in international markets such as the UK, Germany, Middle east and Australia.

What can we expect from the eZS?
Light blue exterior color options and new alloy wheels distinguish the eZS from its petrol powered sibling. The charging socket, if you are wondering where, is concealed under the front grille. The SUV will be aimed at city dwellers and will have MG’s i-Smart next gen connectivity features. In Chinese market, the eZS has a 150hp electric motor that draws the juice from the lithium ion battery pack. It is capable of doing 335 kms in a single charge.
“The MG EZS, as one of the first locally produced global EVs, will mark a new chapter in environment-friendly mobility in India. We are delighted to be one of the first carmakers to enter this space in India. aim to bring accessible electric motoring to the customers in India upon its introduction by the end of this year,” said Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India.
