Maruti Suzuki launched the 2018 Ertiga in India, it was first launched in the Indonesian market ealier this year. The new Ertiga is more than a facelift with ton of new features. The design is very upmarket and fresh. The Ertiga has matured a lot as a MPV with its new design language. Every bit and angle has been reworked to make the Car look fresh and distinct with previous gen Ertiga. The new projector headlamps with L shaped LED tail lamps complements the character of the car. The new Ertiga has lot of reason to consider it in your garage. Here are the top five reason to buy the new Ertiga.
- Smart Hybrid for both Diesel and Petrol Engine
The Ertiga is first in its segment to get mild hybrid for both petrol and diesel powertrain. The Hybrid system was first introduced in the Ciaz. While the new 1.5 litre Petrol engine with the combination of mild hybrid was introduced in 2018 Ciaz facelift. Ertiga being the mass car, borrows the same K15 engine from the new Ciaz.
The Petrol engine is an all-new 1462 CC, developed in house. Which produces 108.26 hp at 6000 rpm and 138 Nm at 4400 rpm. The Diesel is the same 1248 cc, 4 cylinder, 4 valve, DOHC 16 V D13A MJD engine, giving a power output of 88.5 hp at 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. The Petrol variants gets 5 speed manual transmission along with 4 speed torque converter automatic transmission system, while the diesel gets 5 speed manual transmission only.
The Hybrid system is standard across variant making it most accessible hybrid car in India. The Hybrid system has brake energy regeneration along with torque assist and idle stop start function.
- Plush Interior and new features
Maruti has loaded the 2018 Ertiga with new interiors and lot of features. The new dual tone black and beige color with faux wooden insert looks very premium yet practical with small bonuses inside like the cooled twin cup holder. The Ertiga carries the same color MID display from the Ciaz. The leather wrapped steering wheel gets steering mounted controls with flat bottom.
The Infotainment unit is the same we have seen with other MSIL cars such as Ignis, Baleno and Swift. However, the Ertiga has a very cleverly fitted infotainment system which gives you an illusion of floating screen at the center. It features AppleCar Play, Android Auto and in built navigation system. The new Ertiga now gets Projector headlamps and LED tail lamps. Additionally, it also features height adjustable driver seat, sliding arm rest with utility tool box.
- Enhanced Safety
Maruti Ertiga facelift comes with ABS, EBD, ESP and brake assist as standard across variants. The Eritiga gets dual air bag, ISOFIX Child anchorage and Hill hold assist. Additionally, the car also gets rear parking sensor along with rear parking camera. The enhanced Heartect platform with high tensile steel, increases the rigidity of the vehicle. The Ertiga is claimed to be more effective for absorption and dispersion of crash energy.
- Spacious than before
The new Ertiga is dimensionally longer by 99mm, taller by 5mm and wider by 45mm. The cabin is roomy and airy. In the inside the car has ample of space in every corner. You get lot of storage spaces in the car. The second row seating is very comfy with adequate amount of knee room, while the third row is considerably spacious than before. The increased length of the car has improved the boot space to 209 litres which can be further extended to 550 litres once the third row is flattened.
- Aggressive pricing
The Car has lot of advancement in its segment with some segment first offering yet Maruti Suzuki has managed to price the MPV very aggressive. The Ertiga has been priced 1 lakh higher than its outgoing model. However, it still remains the most affordable MPV in the market. The price starts from Rs. 7.44 lakhs for the petrol variant and goes up to Rs. 9.50 lakhs for the manual transmission and Rs. 9.95 lakhs for the automatic transmission. The diesel starts from Rs. 8.84 and goes upto Rs. 10.90.
