Audi RS3 in its stock form is a pretty fast car. With a 400-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and all wheel. The RS3can hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
But this isn’t your regular Audi RS3. This version has gone all electric and boast a whopping 1,200bhp! Folks at Schaeffler. Each wheel has one individual Formula-E spec electric motor. It takes less than 7 seconds to 200 km/h. Each pair of electric motors shares one gearbox housing (forming two electric twin axles), while on the individual level, each motor is connected to the wheel by means of a spur gear unit.
In this drag, Audi RS3 hunts down two other supercars. A Porsche 911 GT2 RS powered by a flat-six 3.8-liter bi-turbo engine putting down 700 bhp of power and 750Nm of torque. A Lamborghini Huracan Performante with a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 delivering 640bhp and, 600Nm of torque.
First of all, Huracan comes to battle. Right from the start Audi takes the lead and continues it till the end. Though Lamborghini had a much better soundtrack it quite could not keep with the electric power.
The second race, with the Porsche, is more neck to neck in the start. The rear-wheel-drive Porsche stays immensely close with Audi’s torque monster. Though the Audi pulls away as the race finishes.
Furthermore, Electric power has come up a long way. Instant full torque gives them an acceleration advantage above all supercars. There’s time for mass adoption of EVs but when they come. We’re sure they’ll pack a lot of fun.
