The expressway is 135 kms long and has 6 lanes. The task was completed in 500 days, which is 400 days less than the estimated time of completion. The entire project cost was Rs. 5763 crores. 5 th November, 2015 , PM Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of this project. The NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) had informed the Supreme Court about the delay in inaugaration, which was to happen on 31st April originally. However, the Supreme Court has ordered that even if the expressway isn’t inaugarated by the end of May, they would open it for public use in order to meet the high traffic problems. The construction of the highway required 1 lakh tonne of steel and 5 lakhs tonnes of cement. Video incident detection system is fitted along the stretch of the expressway, which is powered by 8 solar power plants with nearly 4000kW capacity. Electronic toll collection systems have made its way to the EPE toll plazas, which will charge the travellers according to distance and not for the entire 135 kms.
