SuperSport: The Italian two-wheeler maker, Ducati has recently officially announced a recall of SuperSport and the SuperSport S. A Few weeks earlier, a complaint was registered with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on June 5 to recall about 1,462 units in the USA. Now, the company has also released recall operations in India. However, they have not officially revealed the units of bike model affected to be recalled.
So, why the company has recalled the units? The company was ordered to recall the bike units following a fire mishap happened and the company has to take some strict action. The Italian company stated that the incident happened because the airbox blow-by hose and the fuel tank overfill hoses are installed extremely next to the exhaust manifold, so, unfortunately, the hoses melted and the vehicle caught in flame. Shockingly, three fire cases were reported in three different nations after which the company took such major step.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has already declared an effective alert to all the Ducati SuperSport purchasers to inspect for indications of the hoses heating or smoking. If you find smoke or odor of smoking rubber near the hoses, then immediately contact the dealership.
As said earlier, the fault is not only detected in USA units but also in Indian units as well. Ducati India has also declared that some units of the model are also affected in India. They have registered some of the affected bike’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Numbers). The company has commenced the method for notifying the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers). After reporting with the organizations, they will declare the fault officially and alert the buyers who have purchased the defective units. They have also not revealed the total number of bikes in the country affected which could be disclosed after the official declaration.
The suggested solution is comparably manageable and simply requires re-routing the hoses in issue. The engineers have advised to re-position the hoses in the recall. It will be adjusted to settle them in the port of the actual electrical installation and make sure that the hoses don’t touch the exhaust manifold which is the major problem.
The recalled bikes affected by the hose problem was built in the Ducati’s Bologna factory, on the other hand, the Indian units have been brought from its other factory in Thailand. This is not the first time that Ducati has recalled its model. Earlier, the company has recalled Panigale V4 soon after the release in the USA for some fuel-detailed fault. The buyers don’t have to worry, as Ducati has realized the seriousness of the situation and issued a recall campaign. If you notice anything weird relating to this hose problem, then you can report it immediately.
