The first Ducati Multistrada was developed and traded sixteen years ago. Now, the Italian bike maker has successfully sold 100,000-bike milestone of the popular Multistrada. Recently, the 100,000th Multistrada bike was delivered to a German Ducatista who had bought his bike from the Düsseldorf dealership. Dave Hayward got a Pikes Peak version of 1260 with a customised laser printing on the top yoke.
Ducati Multistrada is celebrating its sixteenth anniversary and the company has big news for all its enthusiasts on this special occasion. The bike was handed over to Hayward especially by Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali. The laser mark on the top yoke of this legendary Multistrada reads “Multistrada Centomila,” which makes it unique from other Multistrada available previously. The bike makers dual-purpose bike has always been technologically enhancing.
Nine years ago, the legendary Multistrada was the first bike to be announced with riding modes which has transformed the style and technology of the motorcycles. Now, we get riding mode feature in almost every superbikes which are getting immensely popular among the riders. In 2014, D|Air version was announced which was the first bike with a feature combining with an individual airbag provided jacket.
Later in 2015, Ducati announced a distinct feature variable-timing engine known as the Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing). Along with the enhancement in technology evolved, the reliability also improved. It practised ever-longer and stricter development. The Multistrada 1260 and 950 became more trustworthy and reliable with the improved production process, high-quality materials, and smoothened numerical simulations.
According to Ducati, “Today, all the engines in the family have valve play checks at 30,000 km intervals – three times that of the first version.” The company has also claimed that they are working on new updates which will be presented by 2021. The Multistrada range will soon get an all-new twin-cylinder 1260 and 950 bikes along with a new specific V4 engine. It is assumed that the engine will be based on Ducati Panigale V4 and the Streetfighter V4. Although, new upcoming Multistrada will have some powerful specs.
Multistrada family has more than 7 versions that include two 950 cm³ (115 hp) bikes and five 1260 cm³ (160 hp). Multistrada 950 was launched this year which comes as S version which is the best Multistrada in terms of performance. It is outfitted with a 19’’ front wheel which provides versatile riding experience. The all-new Multistrada 1260 offers comfort along with more load capacity which makes it a sporty choice. It comes with Öhlins suspension, forged wheels and a carbon fibre end pipe.
The Pikes Peak range is another sporty bike with high-performance level. Multistrada 1260 Enduro is for all the adventure lovers. It is an off-road rider with the toughest terrain, 30-litre tank, long-travel suspension, 19-inches front rim, and the hard-wearing spoked wheels. The company has not revealed much about V4 Multistrada which will be showcased later in 2021, but it will be the next big thing in the automotive world.
