Datsun India is not doing very well in the number of sales in India. If you check their website, the number of vehicles they sell is just three – Datsun RediGo, Datsun Go, Datsun Go+. Datsun Go and Go+ are up for a facelift and look very simple and boring. But Datsun seems to have addressed the issue with the 2020 Datsun RediGo. How? Let’s find out.
Just look at the front profile especially in this blue Vivid Blue colour as Datsun calls it! The sleek angular looking headlamps and the unique L shaped LED DRLs merged with LED fog lamps, all of this paired with a massive front grille gives it a sharp and bold look. Look from any angle the RediGo looks very modern and smart from the front. Talking about the fact that it competes with Renault Kwid and Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, the front looks the best in comparison.
As we have seen the wheel cover trend in Renault Kwid, Datsun RediGo also gets 14-inch wheel with ‘Pentablade’ Wheel cover which looks like an alloy. While the rear has remained more or less the same the tail lamps now are LED. Looking from the side it gets a character line going from the front door and rear door, merging all the way back to tail light. It also has class-leading ground clearance of 187mm, 7mm more than the S-Presso.
Coming to the interior, the RediGo gets dual-tone black and brushed Aluminium finish interior which gives it a sporty vibe. Centre of the dashboard is dominated by the big 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There are a lot of spaces to keep your essentials, the front power window switch is also located in the centre console.
Powering the Datsun RediGo are the same engines in their BS6 avatar, 0.8L and a 1L motor. The 800cc motor makes 54ps of power at 5,600rpm and 72Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. It has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 20.7Kmpl. While the 1L motor makes 68ps at 5,500 rpm and 91Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. In fact, it has claimed efficiency of 21.7 Kmpl. Both the engine comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the top-spec variant with 1L motor gets an option for AMT as well, with AMT the claimed fuel efficiency is 22 Kmpl.
Safety features include ABS with EBD, driver and passenger airbag, parking sensors and rear parking camera in the top-spec variant. Datsun is also offering a list of accessories for the car such as door visor, roof rails, rear spoiler, body graphics, app-controlled ambient mood lighting and engine under cover.
