The PSA Group will make their reentry in our country with the Citroen C5 Aircross. The Citroen brand is said to launch three new cars in three years starting from 2021. The first model of the brand in our country will be launched in 2021. In order to price the cars competitively, the brand will manufacture the components locally. The brand will begin working on the powertrains this year itself at the Hosur plant in collaboration with Avtec. TCS will be the brand’s engineering partner.
The first model of the brand will be the Citroen C5 Aircross and it is scheduled to launch in 2020, following it the India based model will be launched in 2021. The Citroen C5 Aircoss is showcased on our country, today. However it is on sale in the international markets. The international spec C5 Aircross is available in four powertrain options, a 1.5 litre diesel unit, a 2.0 litre diesel unit, a 1.2 litre petrol motor and a 1.6 litre petrol engine. A six speed manual gearbox comes mated to the engines as a standard while the eight speed automatic transmission is an optional offering. When launched, the Citroen C5 Aircross will lock horns with the Hyundai Tuscon and the upcoming MG Hector.
The PSA Group has made its entry into the country by collaboration with the CK Birla Group. The joint venture aims at producing 50,000 vehicles in the first year of operation for both the Indian and the International automarkets. The PSA Group has bought the trademarks of the Hindustan Motors for Rs 80 Crores and the brand has mentioned that they can launch a model bearing this tag in future.
The PSA Group has taken a separate initiative in April, 2018. As a part of the move, the brand would work on developing the low emission and the electric vehicles. The first electric vehicle of the manufacturer is likely to be launched this year. Thus, this initiative of the brand is a step towards their aim of providing a entire range of electric vehicles by the coming next five years.
