Tata Motors is ready to launch the most-awaited Harrier SUV in January 2019. Now, the latest reports claim that the company will begin the official bookings for the upcoming Tata Harrier from October 15. The company has already confirmed the vehicle in previous teasers which reveals that the next-gen Harrier will be introduced as a premium SUV range.
The reports also claim that the first pre-booking will be commenced from a small amount of just Rs 30,000. In the previous official video, the company revealed the engine performance of the vehicle and they also cleared the fact that the model will get an off-road variant as well which will become a new attraction for the young adventurer riders. The premium vehicle will be large and bold with more interior space.
Regarding the commencement of bookings, S N Barman, Vice President, Sales & Network, Passenger Vehicle Division, Tata Motors said, “We will start accepting bookings for the all-new Harrier for an amount of Rs. 30,000. We are evaluating an introductory price for the Harrier when we will launch the SUV in January 2019 and we are also planning to start the deliveries within a month of the launch.”

The upcoming Harrier will be available in a 6-speed manual and the 6-speed automatic options. The company has already confirmed that the new premium SUV will be powered by a Kryotec 2.0L engine, based on Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel motor. The engine is expected to churn out 140hp power, whereas the top-specs seven-seater variant will produce 170hp power. However, the top-spec variant will be revealed after the launch of the standard variant.
Harrier will get a special position in the Tata showrooms as an off-roader with extreme performance. The company has also intended to hire trained sales executives who can explain details to the potential customers about the premium SUV. Furthermore, the company will also provide trained mechanics to service the Harrier. Tata claims the Kryotec engine to feature an Advanced EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and eVGT (electric variable geometry turbocharger).
The SUV is developed in Tata’s new OMEGA platform and comes with an all-new IMPACT 2.0 design. In the interior, the Harrier will feature superior features like push-button start, steering-mounted controls and the large touchscreen infotainment system. The upcoming vehicle will give a tough competition to the ongoing SUV’s like Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, the upcoming Nissan Kicks and Kia SP SUV Concept. The vehicle is expected to be priced around Rs 12 lakh for standard variant and Rs 18 lakh for the top-spec variant.
