The launch of new BMW M2 Competition has been confirmed earlier by BMW India. The sources of Motorroids has confirmed the launch of BMW M2 Competition around October, 2018. This sports coupe will be offered in India with five exterior colour options – Black Sapphire, Long beach blue, Sunset Orange, Alpine White and Hockenheim Silver. The new BMW M2 sports coupe is positioned below the M3 in the company line up. The new BMW M2 Competition is set to arrive with a price tag of Rs 85 lakh [ex showroom- Mumbai] but including the optional accessories the price may reach up to Rs 1 crore. It will arrive with increased performance updates and styling features.
The BMW M2 Competition comes with major exterior updates including adaptive LED headlight, lights package, high beam assistant, M style mirrors, additional AC vents, full size spare wheels and a de- chromed glossy black kidney grille. However, the India based M2 Competition misses out the carbon fibre mirrors and standard fibre carbon roofs which as also be offered optionally.
The interior of the BMW M2 Competition will get high gloss black paint with a pearl chrome finish. The interior comes equipped with the all new design instrument cluster in black panel technology, M colours stitched in sports seat and seat belts and door with M2 competition shield. Besides that, the BMW M2 Competition comes equipped with a M leather steering wheel with M1 and M2 buttons which saves driver settings, M double clutch transmission with Drivelogic Active, M Dynamic, M Differential and M Servotronic Mode.
The BMW M2 Competition comes loaded with a host of features. The other standard features include type repair kit, rear view camera, floor mats in velour, locking wheel bolts, interior rear view mirror with anti-dazzle, interior and exterior mirror, seat adjustment electrical, driver and front passenger sports seats, armrest front, sliding M seat belts, front and rear PDC, rain sensor, automatic AC, speedometer with kilometre reading and 2-zone cruise control. Besides the M2 sports coupe comes with rear seat headrests, foldable radio, BMW professional HiFi loudspeaker system, individual headliner anthracite and M Sport exhaust system.
The upcoming M2 Competition will be powered to a 3.0 litre twin turbocharged straight six engine, which produces 400 bhp power and 550Nm torque. A seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission comes coupled to the engine. The BMW M2 Competition sits on 19 inch M light weight alloy wheels and Y spoke design alloy wheels will be offered as optional. At the front the car gets 245/35 R 19 tyres and the rear gets 265/35 R 19 tyres. Braking duties will be handled by M-Sports brakes with enlarge brake discs. Once launched the BMW M2 Competition takes on the likes of the Audi RS5, Porsche 718 Cayman and Mercedes-AMG SLC 43.
