BMW India has quietly launched a cheaper variant for the petrol 3 series. Before there was only two variant of the 3-series, 330i M-Sport and 330d Luxury Line. Now adding to the lineup BMW India has launched 330i Sport for Rs 41.7 Lakhs. The engine is the same as the M-Sport variant, but it does miss out on some equipment to make it cheaper and accessible to customers.
So now we have three variant for the BMW 3 series, two petrol and one diesel option. The 330i Sport is powered by the same 2.0-Litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor which makes 258hp at 5,000rpm and 400Nm of torque between 1,550 and 4,000 rpm. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW claims the top speed of 250kmph and 0-100 in just 5.8 seconds. So the Sport variant retains its sportiness with the same engine as M-Sport.
The Sport trim gets all the essentials and features. It gets Automatic LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, sunroof, cruise control, launch control, three-zone climatic control, electrically adjustable front seats, paddle shifters and an 8.8-inch touchscreen unit.
It also comes equipped with all the safety features including ABS, ESC, Traction control, 6-airbags, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system and parking camera. Although it missed out on 18-inch alloy wheel from the M-Sport and gets 17-inch wheels and also the bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen.
The BMW 330i Sport is Rs 6.80 Lakhs cheaper than the M Sport variant and provided it gets the same engine, it seems like a good deal if you are ready to miss out on some features and bigger alloys. It competes with Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-class and Jaguar XE.
