A launch is expected soon of the Bajaj Platina 125 cc bike, which has been spied testing in Pune. The bike was spotted sans any camouflage. A few cosmetic changes were also seen on the bike. Mostly the bike is not much changed, but the engine and the brakes have received major changes which will be much encouraged by automobile enthusiasts throughout the country.
Earlier the bike drew power from a 100 cc engine, now it will run on a 124.5 cc single cylinder, 4 stroke, air cooled single cylinder, SOHC, DTS-i. There is also a disc brake replacing the drum one on the front wheel. The bike carries over the boxy headlamp cowl with LED DRLs and contrast piping for the seat from its old self. Conventional telescopic suspension at the front and twin sided shock absorbers at the rear are also being carried ahead. The engine churns out 11 Ps power at 7500 rpm and 11 Nm at 5500 rpm torque whereas the 100 cc version made a 7.9 Ps power and 8.3 Nm torque. A four speed gearbox is replaced by a five speed one. Paint scheme and body graphics are just as it was before. The 125 cc badging and gold casting on the engine are the newest addition to its exterior. It also has a premium seat cover and decals. This engine update might not be available for Indian markets, but only for export duties.
