Bajaj has finally launched the most awaited electric scooter, Chetak in India. The e-scooter has got a modern appearance with a retro touch. The two-wheeler maker has introduced the new model at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom Pune and Bengaluru). The bookings will commence on 15th January 2020 at an amount of just Rs 2,000. The scooter goes well with the company’s slogan ‘the future of mobility’. The premium scooter is developed with many attractive high-level features. The all-new scooter is introduced in two trims: the Urbane and the Premium. It will reach the customers by the end of this month. It will be delivered from KTM showrooms. However, the company has planned to deliver its first e-scooter in a phased manner.
First, it will reach Pune and Bengaluru followed by other towns including Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. The company has announced that the new scooter will be assembled at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra, which total female workers for the range. The electric Chetak is constructed with an all-metal frame highlighting a neo-retro scheme. It gets a new silhouette based on the popular Vespa.
It’s been 14 years when the famous iconic, Chetak was from the market. Although, we can say that it has made a grand come back with premium features and underpinnings. It has received a premium colour job and LED elements. It is outfitted with 12-inch alloy wheels. The premium version is the top specs trim which comes with some distinct elements compared to Urbane.
Some standard features include illuminated switchgear, glovebox, retractable hook and a real-time battery-level indicator. The scooter features single-sided suspension as well. The Urbane variant has drum brake at the front. On the other hand, the Premium trim highlights a front disc brake along with high-level features including metallic shade on offer, tan seat, metallic-shaded wheels and a front disc brake.
The Chetak is integrated with sleek LED blinkers and strong rear grab handle which makes it stylish from the rear. It features fully digital instrumentation which allows you to connect your smartphone via an app and access battery status, unauthorized access alert and enjoy music while riding. You also get free one-year data subscription.
The all-new Chetak packs a powerful 3.8kW/4.1kW (continuous/peak power) electric motor which is combined with an automated transmission system. It comes with a distinct Kick Down Mode which increases the power and speed. It is powered by an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack that offers 95km range in Eco Mode and 85km range in the Sport mode.
Moreover, the company also provides a warranty of three years/ 50,000kms on the battery. The vehicle can get fully charged in just 5hr and about 25 per cent charged in 1hr. The customers are facilitated with charging and installation at home, initiated by the company’s experts. The all-new electric Chetak rivals against the likes of Ather’s 450 and 450X.
