TVS Motors launched the Apache RTR 160 White Race editions and this should not be confused with the recently launched Apache RTR 160 4V which is completely a different machine. The pricing is though same compared to its previous Matte Red Variant launched in 2017. The Bike comes in two variants with front disc-rear drum priced at INR 79,715 and front disc-rear disc at INR 82,044 (all the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi)
The New Apache RTR 160 White Race Edition is mechanically unchanged and remains identical to the previous model except for the new White shade (as the name suggests) with red graphics in the fuel tank decals, front mudguard and rear decals. Additionally, this time TVS has used the 3D TVS logo in the tank like we have seen earlier in Apache RR 310 and RTR 160 V4 subsequently, which looks pretty good.
The Bike is mechanically unchanged and though continues to draw power from its 159.7 CC single cylinder, air-cooled engine which generates 14.9 HP and a peak torque of 13.03 Nm. The power transmission is handled with 5 speed gearbox. The suspension is performed with the same telescopic forks and adjustable dual shock absorber at the rear. The braking responsibilities are taken care by 270 mm petal disc at the front and the rear is 130 mm drum brakes along with the option of 200 mm disc brakes. Surprisingly, the ABS is not been offered in the White Red Edition.
Well, as per the new Mandate from The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) ABS is mandatory for all bikes above 125 CC and 14HP to be sold from April 2019. However, the mandate also mentions to install ABS in bikes above 125 CC and 14HP from 1st April 2018 which makes us think as why TVS has not offered the ABS as an option too.
The New TVS Apache RTR 160 will sit below the recently launched Apache RTR 160 4V. Interestingly the bike will rival against its own machines along with Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Yamaha FZ v2, Suzuki Gixxer and Honda CB Hornet 160R.
