It has been three months since Honda released its Amaze, which made its debut at the Auto Expo 2018. The car has made its position as the best selling new model on the HCIL list. The newly launched compact sedan has a record number of sales that is 30000 units in the first three months. The company has issued a statement that it has happened first time in 20 years,since the company started working.
Makoto Hyoda, Director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India made a statement, “Built on an all new platform, the new Amaze has been developed as a proper sedan from ground-up which helps it stand apart from the rest. The customers have really appreciated this aspect and accepted the car very well. This success reflects the strong customer confidence in the Amaze and this car will be a strong pillar for HCIL business.”
Honda Cars India’s overall cumulative sales growth of 12.5% from April to July 2018 is hugely affected by the Amaze. 30% of the Amaze sales are from the diesel and petrol based CVT. The diesel CVT is a new addition to the market. Also bold design, spacious interiors, driving performance, features and safety technologies accounts for the sales of the sedan, which gives a class apart experience. The Amaze has 4 variants, namely the E,S,V and VX.
The sedan has a length of 3995 mm, a breadth of 1695 mm and a height of 1501 mm. The wheelbase is 2470 mm. The tyre dimension is 175/65 R15. The subcompact sedan draws power from 1.2 litre petrol engine producing 90 Ps power and 110 Nm torque and 1.5 litre diesel engine. The transmission options are a 5 speed manual one along with a CVT for S and V versions of the car. This is applicable for both petrol and diesel engine. The MT diesel engine produce 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque, and the CVT one produces 80 Ps power and 160 Nm torque. The petrol efficiency is 19.5 kmpl and 19 kmpl for the manual and CVT mated engines respectively. The diesel one on the other hand gives an efficiency of 17.4 kmpl and 23.8 kmpl for the manual and CVT versions respectively.
Currently Honda Brio, Honda Jazz, Honda Amaze, Honda City, Honda WR-V, Honda BR-V and Honda CR-V are the automobiles under the Honda banner in India.
