Auto Expo 2018 has been full of excitement, thanks to the car manufacturers. This time Honda has raised the bars high with its all new Honda amaze. This is not the regular update to the Amaze which was a sedan version of Honda Brio but it’s all together a leap update to the product.
Honda Amaze was first launched in 2013 and was the only diesel car offering from Honda’s stable. The Car when launched was purely identical to its hatchback version Brio. Since its launch the car had only one update in 2016. Keeping the fact that New Dzire, Ford Aspire, Tata Tigor, New Hyundai Xcent are already updated and available in the market with challenging competition under sub-4 meter sedan, Honda has finally unveiled its all new Amaze.
The Car looks distinctive and classier at the front, though you can immediately recall the Honda City looking at it. A thick chrome insert in the front with honeybee grill are nicely integrated into the headlamps. The front bumper has fog lamps integrated into it which also has a honeybee like grill. The rear too has been updated. The C pillar now looks premium at the back and has thick chrome between the C shaped tail lamp. However, we have also seen a version without the chrome line. The Car has been based upon all new platform which make it wider and slightly low roof line. Along with this the Amaze has also loosen weight compared to its previous version.
The Interior too has been updated and it will make you feel more premium than its older version which was simply copied from brio and had to face many criticism. Once you are in, looking at the dash board you will feel the drastic change, although it has some mix cues from both older version of amaze and the new Honda city. The car has a central infotainment system and all new beige and black interior which is nicely fit and finish.
The powertrain is expected to remain the same 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol and 1.5 liter i-DTEC turbo diesel motors. The petrol unit makes 87 Bhp-110 Nm, and gets a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard while the diesel makes 98.6 Bhp-200 Nm with 6 speed manual which is expected to be borrowed from the City and Jazz. Amazingly, Honda has confirmed that the car would be offered with CVT transmission. The safety is also taken care off and the car will be offered with dual air bag, ABS with EBD and the top end variants will feature automatic climate control system.
Overall, the car looks more-likely a mini Honda city which is fine. The car has premium interiors and safety features which makes it a good family car. The price is expected to start from 5.5 lakhs. However, once the car is officially launched in India will have clearer picture on its pricing. Additionally, Honda has been trying all ways to keep the prices as low possible with 90% localization at manufacturing facility in Greater Noida.
