The new generation Hyundai Santro redesigned (codenamed AH2) has been spotted again. Over the last few months the car has been spotted several times and most of the times heavily camouflaged. Recently it has been spotted by one of our members on the Chennai Bangalore Highway , near the Hyundai plant.
The car has the characteristic “tallbay” design. There are large glass panels on the windows. The rear window and the C pillar bears similarity to the discontinued Hyundai i10. The car is supposed to run on wheel caps with steel rims to cut down the price, hence confirming on the “low cost” idea. Design language with strong lines, LED DRLs and the full-face grille seen on the facelifted Grand i10 are the characteristic features of the four wheeler. The redesigned Santro will have its place between the Eon and Grand i10.
The car is expected to run on a 800 cc and 1.0 litre petrol and petrol & CNG three cylinder engines which is a normal kind of thing for cars in this segment. Automatic and AMT versions will both be offered with the engine. Equipment like airbags, climate control system, ABS and a touchscreen infotainment system are naturally expected looking into way the company, Hyundai, works.
Codenamed AH2, The Redesigned Santro Spotted In Heavy CamouflageHyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language based car is expected to hit the Indian markets during the festive season of the running year. Spy images also suggest that the AH2 will get multi-function steering wheel, a dashboard-mounted gear shifter and electrically adjustable ORVMs.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto and Renault Kwid are the B-segment rivals of the new Hyundai wonder. The Alto have not seen much success but the Kwid has been a hit. The Eon too has not been of much business, lets hope Hyundai gets a better prospect with this redesigned lineup. The Tata Tiago might also be a probable competition. The car might come at a price range of Rs. 3 lakhs to Rs. 5 lakhs. The name of the car is not yet decided, but its expected to bear a Santro badge.
